Pineapple Health Benefits
Who knew? Sure fruits are basically good for you but did you know the following?
Pineapples contain potassium and fiber — both of which help maintain heart health by reducing the risk of heart disease and stroke. Potassium is vital in regulating blood pressure, and fiber helps lower cholesterol levels.
Pineapples also contain copper. According to researchers, copper may help maintain neural pathways in the brain, thus improving cognitive function.
That's how I convince myself I am countering the effects of rum when I indulge in my signature 'pineapple and rum toddy'.
And bromelain, found in pineapples, is used to treat sports injuries and swelling because of its anti-inflammatory effect on muscles, joints and soft tissues.
