Bounty at Koili Point -- Aug 2022
Summer at Koili Point brings a lot of fresh fruits to our ohana. And this leads to one of the best aspects of living on the Hamakua Coast.
With so much available in such a short amount of time, we give hundreds of fruits away during the summer months.
Meyer lemons, passion fruit, pineapple, starfruit, many varieties of limes and not to mention the best of them all on the bottom right of the photo -- finger limes aka caviar limes.
Many of our other trees have also started to fruit as we had planted the saplings between 3 and 7 years ago. We had our first mangos, avocados and macadamia nuts this season.
Finally, I want to leave you with a Hawaiian Place Name and its translation. Today's place name is Waianuenue. Wai-anuenue means "water-rainbow" or "rainbow seen in water" and is the name of Rainbow Falls off of Waianuenue Avenue as you enter Hilo from Koili Point.
Aloha!
