Were Mai Tais involved?
My sister visited Koili Point a few months ago with some friends of hers. Amongst other bucket list places they wanted to see, they decided to drive around the Big Island looking for Mauna Loa -- the worlds' largest active volcano and the largest volcano on the planet.
Mauna Loa, by itself, happens to be bigger than all the other Hawaiian Islands combined and is about 4,100 meters above sea level -- 13,677 feet above the water.
The dome itself stretches 75 miles in length and nearly 64 miles in width! But my sister and her two friends "couldn't find it".
51% of the Big Island is comprised of Mauna Loa. Was it camouflaged?
The picture below gives you an idea of how long the volcano is. Look at the spine running down the middle. It practically stretches the whole of the Island.
Had David Copperfield been sneaking around the island unannounced during their visit? Were the 4 Horseman making another movie?
Where did it go? For more than a week, the aforementioned guests struggled to find it. I was left with only one question which is the title of this blog. And by the way, none of them drink so who knows!
Finally, let me leave you with a Hawaiian word of the day: Loa -- which translates to "long."
