Ninole morning
Aloha! The East side of Hawaii Island has the most beautiful sunrises.
Since most of our guests come from the mainland, they are up early and get a chance to enjoy the sunrises.
Ninole is just up the coast from us as are a number of other small towns with great character, strong history, and old plantation charm.
If you haven't done already, take a relaxing drive up the Old Mamalahoa Highway as you head north towards Waimea. Start with the 4 mile Scenic Road which is just north of our property about a quarter mile. Further up the road, you will pass through Ninole.
With that, let me leave you with a Hawaiian word of the day: 'Ninole' -- which has a few translations. (Pronounced ' knee no lay '). One of the more popular is it coming from the Hawaiian words "niu" meaning coconut palm, and "hole" meaning to burrow, aptly describing the agricultural roots that dug deep into this land.
