One Gallery Hilo Bayfront
E Komo Mai! Welcome!
We have always enjoyed art and on both sides of the family we have artists with passions in different genres. I recently read that developing proficiency in art is a key factor in one's personal development, And while I'm not particularly artistic in any great sense and thus my apparent lack in personal development :), I find great delight when an artist's energy manifests itself in their work.
Little by little, we are increasing our modest art collection as you will see in the houses. One of the galleries we peruse for potential hangs on the Koili Point wall spaces is the One Gallery in downtown Hilo bayfront.
The gallery showcases at least 50 artists based in Hawaii and we recently bought two paintings and an enhanced giclee by Rod Cameron. Love his stuff! (Neither the gallery nor Rod know I am blogging about them btw.)
Over time, we will continue to add more art as I have already spied hand carved wood paddles that would look great in the houses.
Graciously, the owner, Deborah, has offered Koili Point guests a 10% discount on all art if you let her know you are staying with us!
Today, I will leave you with a Hawaiian Place Name and its translation. Each Hawaiian place name has a meaning. Today's place name is Wainaku. Wainaku is the last little area you pass as you head from Koili Point into Hilo town. Wainaku translates to 'pushing water' since "wai" means 'fresh water' and naku means 'pushing'.
Aloha!
